ART FOR SALE
Karen Bosy, Mathew Burrows and Harriet Mena Hill @ The Eagle Gallery, London
"Karen Bosy, a Canadian artist working in London, makes tiny digital prints of angels made up of layers of colour and information drawn from classical poses and gestures she has noted during contemporary conversations. According to Christian lore there are nine choirs of angels. Angels were commonly associated with light. Dionysius considered the first order of Angels, the Seraphim, Cherubim and Thrones to be akin to fire. The Seraphim have three pairs of red wings and reflect the radiance of God, while the Cherubim have single blue wings and reflect divine knowledge. Legend has it that they are derived from the monstrous Ka-ri-bu, guardians of Babylonian temples. Karen Bosy's little angels are a cross between these violent beings and Victorian fairies, small smudges of red and blue movement that flutter on the edge of consciousness." - Sue Hubbard, "The Review" in The Independent on Tuesday
